When someone close to you dies, there’s a legal side to deal with on top of everything else. We’ll take that on and handle it carefully.

After a death, someone has to deal with the person’s estate: everything they owned, along with any debts or tax that need paying. That usually means applying for a Grant of Probate, or Letters of Administration if there’s no Will, before anything can be passed on. It’s a lot to take on while you’re grieving, so we’ll handle the legal side for you and keep it as simple as we can.

What probate involves
Probate is the legal process of dealing with someone’s estate after they die. Depending on the estate, it can involve:

• Valuing the estate and calculating any inheritance tax due
• Applying for the Grant of Probate and arranging for the inheritance tax bill to be settled from the estate
• Collecting money from banks and investments
• Selling or transferring property
• Paying debts and any tax due
• Passing what’s left to the people who inherit

How we can help
We can take on as much or as little as you need. Some families want us to handle everything; others just need the Grant and will deal with the rest themselves. We can:
