Isabel Harding-James

I am a Solicitor in the Private Client team. I qualified in December 2024 after completing my Training Contract with a firm in Somerset and joined Chubb Bulleid in May 2026. Prior to completing the Legal Practice Course with Master’s at Cardiff University, I completed the Graduate Diploma in Law and obtained a degree in International Relations and Politics also from Cardiff University.

I was drawn to private client work because it allows me to support people with important and often very personal decisions, and to provide reassurance at times when clear, practical advice can make a real difference.

What I do

I specialise in preparing Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney, and in assisting with Estate Administration matters. Much of my work involves helping individuals and families plan for the future or deal with the practical steps that follow a bereavement. I understand that these matters are highly personal and often involve sensitive topics which can be unfamiliar or sometimes overwhelming, and so I aim to ensure that clients feel at ease, understood and reassured from the outset. My approach is to listen carefully, explain things clearly, and provide advice that is tailored to each client’s circumstances and goals.

What do you do when you’re not in the office?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and getting outdoors, especially walking our black labrador along the beach and through the countryside near to where we live or exploring more of Devon and Cornwall. My husband and I also love to travel, most recently having spent a month exploring the islands of Hawaii.

If you weren’t a lawyer, what would you be doing?

I always thought I wanted to be a doctor after growing up watching Casualty at my grandparents’ house every Saturday night. However, I soon realised I needed to rethink that plan when I discovered I don’t like the sight of blood and GCSE Biology was my least favourite subject!
