Ruth Jackson

I am a partner and a family law barrister. I was called to the Bar in 2002, and worked at the independent bar until 2017, when I started working “in house”. I joined Chubb Bulleid as head of the family team in 2021, after relocating to Somerset with my family.

What I do

Much of my work involves acting for and advising people who are experiencing significant changes to their family life, whether the breakdown of a cohabiting relationship, or a divorce. I also help people when their family lives are changing for happier reasons, and advise on cohabitation and nuptial agreements. When families are changing, I advise and act for parents who are working out arrangements for their children in a changed family.

Much of my work involves helping people to avoid contested court proceedings. But where necessary I act and advise with these as well.

A bit more about me

I became a barrister after a previous career as a musicologist, and when I am not in the office, much of my spare time still concerns musical events.

I am also a very keen amateur painter, having taken up the hobby during the pandemic.
