Joanne Turner

I am an Associate Solicitor, having qualified in 2006 following a previous career in company administration and joining Chubb Bulleid in 2019. I specialise in company and commercial law and enjoy working with local businesses of all sizes and in all sectors, advising on the full range of company and commercial matters.

What I do

My work covers a wide and varied area, and includes:

• Share sales and purchases in a number of sectors
• Sales and purchases of care home, hospitality and retail businesses and assets
• Implementing changes to company structures, including complex share issue and transfer arrangements, capital reduction and share buy-back arrangements and bespoke, drafted articles of association and associated shareholder agreements

The sheer range keeps me on my toes and means that I am still facing new questions and challenges even after 20 years of qualification.  I particularly enjoy working with small to medium sized businesses, getting to know their owners and understanding their stories.  It is a great way to put my natural curiosity about people to good use.

What’s the most rewarding part of your work?

Following completion of a large scale share sale when I can report to my selling client that I have just transferred several million pounds into their bank account. This is the fruition of often many months work for me, and a lifetime of work for the client, and to be the one to give that news to someone you have spent so many hours working with is a great feeling.

What’s something clients are often surprised to learn about you?

Outside of work, I am a national level amateur boxing supervisor and judge, and was appointed as a technical official for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the 2025 World Championships in Liverpool. My involvement in the sport takes up most evenings and weekends, so I if I cannot be found in the office, I tend to be at ringside!
