Irene Richardson

I am a Senior Associate in the Commercial Real Estate Department based in the Taunton office. I joined Chubb Bulleid in January 2026.

I qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive and was admitted as a Fellow in 2015. I have previously worked at Michelmores in Exeter and Clarke Willmott in Taunton.

I started my working life after college at the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association in the estates department helping with their land management and agreeing leases. This is when I fell in love with Property and took the step, with their help, to obtain my qualifications with the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.

What I do

I carry out a range of commercial property transactions, but I specialise in secured lending transactions acting for both lenders and borrowers.

I also handle commercial property sales and purchases, leases and assist the corporate team with business sales and acquisitions that have a property element to them.

A bit more about me

There is a great joy in knowing you helped someone secure their first business premises and help them on their way when they were growing their business.

When I am not in the office, I am spending time with my family usually on the football or rugby pitch sidelines. I have two young boys and it’s a big job trying to tire them out. I also love watching cricket, namely Somerset. I am a keen swimmer and qualified as a lifeguard in my youth!

If I wasn’t a lawyer, I would love to have been a marine biologist. I learnt to scuba dive when I was younger and am fascinated with the ocean.
