Debra Morley

I am a Chartered Legal Executive specialising in residential property, having qualified in 2016 and worked in conveyancing since 2009. I genuinely enjoy helping people navigate what can be one of the biggest and most stressful decisions they will make, and I particularly value being able to build a relationship with my clients and make the process feel as straightforward as possible. I joined Chubb Bulleid because I wanted to be part of a firm where clients are treated as individuals and where the quality of the service matters just as much as the legal work.

What I do

I advise people on all aspects of buying, selling and owning residential property, from first-time buyers taking their first steps onto the property ladder to experienced investors growing their portfolios. My work covers everything from freehold and leasehold sales and purchases to remortgages, transfers of equity, shared ownership and new-build properties. Every transaction is different, and I spend much of my time making sure my clients understand what is happening, what they need to do and what to expect next. I pride myself on being proactive, approachable and easy to talk to, and I am always happy to answer questions — however small they may seem. Moving home can be stressful enough without feeling overwhelmed by the legal side of things, so my aim is to make the process as clear, smooth and positive as I can.

A bit more about me

What do you do when you’re not in the office?

I am happiest near the coast. Having grown up playing on Brighton beach, I have gradually made my way along the coast and now feel very lucky to live close to the beach in Somerset. When I’m not there, you’ll usually find me enjoying musical theatre, live music, spending time with friends and family, or making the most of being a very proud Mum.

What’s something clients are often surprised to learn about you?

I once abseiled down Battersea Power Station dressed as a flying squirrel. I’m not sure there is a particularly sensible explanation for it (other than raising money for charity), but it is certainly one of the more memorable things I’ve done.

What’s the most rewarding part of your work?

For me, it is helping someone get to the point where they can finally pick up the keys to their new home. Whether it is a first home, a move that has been a long time coming, or part of someone’s wider plans, I enjoy knowing that I’ve helped make an important moment in their life a little easier.
