Carla Jones

I’m a partner and a solicitor specialising in dispute resolution. I qualified in 2013. Before joining Chubb Bulleid I worked at firms in the Midlands, Bristol and London.

What I do

I help individuals and businesses when something has gone wrong, or when a disagreement has reached the point where they need clear advice about what to do next. My work is deliberately varied and includes disputes involving property, businesses, contracts, employment, estates and professional services. Some cases need court proceedings, but many are really about finding the right strategy early on and resolving the problem without spending unnecessary time and money fighting about it.

A big part of my job is taking something that feels complicated or overwhelming and making it manageable. I’ll explain where you stand, what your realistic options are and what I think you should do next, without hiding behind legal jargon. I’m also quite pragmatic: being legally right matters, but so does whether a particular course of action actually makes sense for you.

What’s the most rewarding part of your work?

Getting a client from the point where a problem is taking up far too much of their headspace to the point where there is a plan – and, ultimately, a resolution. I particularly enjoy cases where there is a knotty problem to solve and the answer isn’t immediately obvious.

What do you do when you’re not in the office?

I have two young children, so life outside work is rarely very quiet. We spend a lot of time finding places to explore, getting outdoors and planning family trips – and I’m also nearly always in the middle of doing something to our house or garden.
