WHAT IS A FENSA CERTIFICATE AND WHEN DO I NEED ONE?
FENSA stands for the Fenestration Self-Assessment Scheme. This Scheme allows window installers to certify that the windows they install comply with Building Regulations without the need for the Local Authority to inspect. A FENSA certificate or alternatively a Building Regulation Completion Certificate will be required for any windows installed since 1st April 2002.
If you are considering replacement doors you would require a FENSA Certificate or Building Regulation Completion Certificate if 50% or more of the door is made from glass.
You must make sure you to retain any certificate obtained for future reference. If you were to sell your property in the future you will need to provide this certificate and if you have misplaced it you will incur a charge for obtaining a duplicate copy.
